Mandatory Equipment
Please be sure to read the document below, as it contains all mandatory equipment requirements, weather kit information, and recommended gear. Mandatory equipment checks will take place at random and/or scheduled times before and during the event. Participants missing required equipment may receive a penalty, including disqualification.
The organizer may require a Hot Weather Kit or Cold Weather Kit based on race conditions. If implemented, all items in the designated weather kit must be carried for the entire race. Failure to carry all required items may result in a penalty, including disqualification.

Weather Protocol: Kit
Hot or Cold Weather Kits may be implemented by Race Management if inclement weather determines it. Please refer to the Hot and Cold Weather Kits below. It is the runner’s responsibility to bring all gear and kits that is or may be required for the race. There are a limited number of stores in Big Bear Lake, so we recommend packing all supplies with you to race weekend.
Race Management may not be able to make the decision to implement the Hot or Cold Weather Kits until a few days out of the event as weather patterns are highly unpredictable and can change on a moment’s notice, especially in the mountains.
Please note that if either the Hot/Cold Weather kit is implemented, failure to carry the required kit can result in disqualification. Runners will need to be prepared for random checks at the Start/Finish or throughout the race.
Race Regulations
The Race Rules & Regulations are now updated for 2026. The Race Regulations outline the rules and standards that help ensure a safe, fair, and enjoyable runner experience for all participants. Please take time to review this document carefully before race day, as it includes important information on race procedures, runner conduct, safety protocols, mandatory requirements, and event policies. Failure to follow race regulations may result in time penalties, disqualification, or removal from the event.
