The UTMB® World Series Majors are the continental finals of the UTMB® World Series, the world circuit of trail running races.

WHAT IS A MAJOR?

These are the continental finals of the UTMB® World Series. The 2024 HOKA Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB® is the only event in America which offers a direct place to the first ten men and the first ten women who finish the 100M, the 100K and the 50K in the UTMB® World Series Finals ( UTMB®, CCC®, or OCC) in the equivalent category. Top finishers in each age group of the 100M, 100K, and 50K categories will also receive a direct place in the UTMB® World Series Finals. As a UTMB World Series Major, finishers of the 100M, 100K, 50K and 25K will also benefit from double Running Stones.

In addition, the winners of the age categories also have direct access to HOKA UTMB® Mont-Blanc:

  • 70 slots are allocated to each race category, including Top 10 Male and Female finishers for each race category. Allotting a total of 210 bibs for winners.
  • Female and male categories will get an even disbursement of bibs, 35 each for each distance.
  • Each age category represented at the start line will be allocated at least one bib.
  • The other bibs will be allocated in proportion to the number of runners present in each age category.

The increase in prize money allocation reflects global UTMB Group's unwavering commitment to gender equality and parity across distances:

Gender Parity: UTMB World Series continues to be committed to ensuring gender parity, which is reflected in the distribution of prize money. Both male and female athletes will receive equal amounts on both Finals and Majors.

Equal Recognition: UTMB®, the iconic original 171km race with 10,000m of elevation gain, now serving as the Final for the 100M category, offers a higher prize money compared to other finals, with male and female winners each receiving 20,000 euros. UTMB World Series recognizes the outstanding performances of every athlete, regardless of the distance they cover. Crossing the finish line of a 50K, a 100K, or a 100M showcases athletes with different skill sets, yet united by the same remarkable perseverance. UTMB World Series aims to commend every athlete on an equal footing, acknowledging that even shorter distances require the same level of dedication and challenge.
